Of course, education is the key to getting the best out of life but some girls lack the confidence with written communication skills, necessary to get good grades and reach success.

For some young girls the thought of writing a short paper for school – much less writing a letter to a college or university and asking for admission – fills them with dread.

Young women who don’t have such fears know that the reason they feel comfortable about writing is because they have had plenty of practice. At some point someone taught them to love writing and make it a part of their life.

In the course of your own parenting it will be possible to expose your child to a culture in which your girl can learn to love writing. One way to encourage your daughter to write or to work on writing is by giving her a journal.

The gift can not stop there though, because you will also need to give your child time to write and help your girl think of things to write about to get her started. Once she gets started and sees some benefits from it, you’ll be surprised how hard it will be to tear her away from journal writing.

When a girl is so much in love with her journal that you have to tear it away from her, you will be amazed at the improvement in her writing that seemingly has occurred effortlessly.

You don’t necessarily need to sign your child up for a writing course for her to become a better writer. It can be a lot more fun for your child to learn on her own, especially when she is encouraged to write about what she is interested in.

Young girls can draw inspiration from almost anywhere.

Did you travel somewhere together as a family on vacation? Did something go wrong? Have your daughter find the humor in the situation and write a short article about it. Laugh with her when she reads it to you. Sharing personal moments in this way not only brings the two of you closer together but also instills a love for writing that even an experience with bad teacher cannot ruin.

If you would like more ideas to get your daughter writing, try randomly giving her subjects to write about until you find one that sticks. Things you might try to encourage her to write about are politics and religion, these are two hot button subjects that young girls can feel so strongly about that many words can be written without it feeling like work.

When you can find the spark in your daughter that motivates her to write and also encourage every attempt at writing she makes, soon you’ll have a young women who feels at home writing any college university without a second thought. Who knows she may even write a few philanthropic organizations to apply for her own scholarships!
